Laser surgery for one eyed Cantabrian.

Wendy Weekes is a true one-eyed Cantabrian - two eyes really - but one-eyed in that being short sighted, she only needed laser surgery on one eye.

Wendy, who has had glasses for 20 years, could read perfectly well without them, but needed glasses for all other daily activities.

“Originally I thought I would need to get both eyes done," says Wendy, "but after the consultation at Laservision I found out that by laser treating only one eye I would get the best of both worlds - I would retain my short sight and get back my long sight."

“That was just one of the benefits. When I had glasses, being out on a golf course when it started to drizzle was an absolute pain. Also going out at night - it’s probably a bit of a vanity thing, but when going out I would often like to wear contacts, but they irritated my eyes so much it was not very comfortable."

“Now it’s a breeze. It did take a couple of weeks after the operation for the eyes to settle down and for the brain to work out which eye was the right one for reading and which for long distance. Now, after only six weeks, it just happens automatically."

“It’s such a relief to get up in the morning and not to have to worry about putting on glasses for the day,” she says.
