Laser surgery ‘a revelation’ for Christchurch lawyer.

A Christchurch lawyer, who wore glasses for almost 30 years, is thrilled with the transformation in his eyesight since he had laser surgery at Laservision Eye Clinic in Merivale, Christchurch.

“It’s the best money I’ve ever spent and what I can see now is a revelation,” he said. “For me it’s the difference between viewing the world from behind a car windscreen and then stepping out into the open and having no impairment whatsoever.”

He had been wearing glasses since he was 16 and for almost 30 years finding his glasses was the first thing he did in the morning and taking them off at night completed his day.

“It was tedious and the final straw was having my glasses fall apart in town one day and having an optician tell me he couldn’t fix them straight away. It meant I couldn’t drive home so I decided then and there something had to be done.”

He experimented with contact lenses a few times but found they didn’t suit him and he would have to remove them after about four hours. "So I chose laser surgery at Laservision Eye Clinic."

"Even when I was wearing the protective eye patches immediately after surgery, I could tell my eyesight was much better. When the patches came off it was wonderful. I went snorkelling in Fiji recently and I could see everything brilliantly.”

As part of his job, he has to read a lot and he said he no longer needs glasses for that either – books and the computer screen are clearly visible. He is such an advocate for laser surgery, his PA has followed his example and other colleagues are considering it also.
